SDP Planning Committee Reviews Updates and Changes

On March 12, 2026, members of the Regent Park Social Development Plan (SDP) Network Planning Committee met to review governance documents, discuss updates from working groups, and plan communication with the City of Toronto.

The meeting opened with a review of the Planning Committee’s purpose statement, led by the Communications Working Group. The revised purpose statement describes how the committee shares decision-making with the Stakeholders Table while coordinating the overall work of the SDP Network. The committee supports meetings of the network, helps guide the work of the four working groups, reviews priorities and strategy, and identifies expertise needed to inform decisions. It also works to strengthen engagement with residents and stakeholders and can establish additional subcommittees when necessary.

The committee then reviewed the SDP Network’s Conflict Resolution Process. Adonis raised concerns about a sentence suggesting the process could be available to all Regent Park residents. He explained that the committee does not have the resources to manage conflicts across the entire community and suggested the process apply only to members of the SDP Network. Members agreed and removed the sentence.

Updates from working groups followed. The Safety Working Group reported that it could benefit from more resident participation and noted that local mental health organizations are not currently attending meetings. Members suggested stronger engagement with those organizations moving forward.

The committee also discussed preparing a letter to the City of Toronto outlining recent updates, including the SDP website, a new co-chair, the conflict resolution process, and the network’s email policy, while requesting support for the next Stakeholders Table meeting.
