About

Welcome to Focus Toronto Community Media!

Focus Toronto Community Media was established by the FOCUS Media Arts Centre in partnership with the Canadian Association of Community Television Users and Stations (CACTUS).

Modeling the work of Regent Park TV, our goal is to provide a supportive digital platform for various neighbourhoods across Toronto to network, produce and share media content relevant to their community. Using a one neighbourhood at a time approach, we want to build an ecology of local media that showcases the aspirations, struggles, stories and issues of the unique neighbourhoods across the City of Toronto.

If you are or interested in becoming a neighbourhood media producer and a member we would love to welcome you and your content into our community. Content can range from coverage of issues, stories, fictional dramas, news and documentaries. In fact anything goes as long as the theme is about the neighbourhood that you consider is your community and is respectful (see our ethics guideline).

In addition to producing and posting content, Focus Toronto Community Media and our partner CACTUS,  is interested in providing our neighbourhood producers/members with the expertise and support they need to produce engaging content for your community. This support can be in the form of offering technical filming and editing advice, information about relevant upcoming grants, the loaning and even the purchase of production equipment. Membership with Focus Toronto Media is free as long as you and your group are committed to producing and sharing neighbourhood content and serving as a member of our advisory. Our advisory meets quarterly and is an opportunity to provide feedback and share ways that we can build and promote the network to others.
