At the February 26, 2026, meeting of the Regent Park Social Development Plan Network (RPSDP) Planning Committee, members reviewed feedback from the recent SDP Orientation, discussed the appointment of a Conflict Resolution Administrator, and considered adopting a formal email policy.
The meeting opened with reflections on the Orientation event. Participants shared “roses, buds, and thorns” — highlighting successes, areas for improvement, and challenges. Among the positive feedback, members praised Adonis’ facilitation, the quality of the slideshow presentation, and the welcoming social atmosphere created by the food and gathering space. Karen noted that the event moved efficiently and felt well paced. Some members also raised suggestions for improvement. Deany noted that February may not have been the best month to hold the event due to overlapping commitments such as Ramadan and Black History Month events, along with cold winter weather. Adonis suggested that detailed information about subcommittees might be too complicated for newcomers and could be simplified in future orientations.
The committee then discussed the appointment of a Conflict Resolution Administrator (CRA), a role responsible for receiving conflict forms and guiding members through the resolution process when informal discussion is not enough. Two nominees were considered: Tamanna and Karen. Tamanna, who previously served as chair of Nelson Mandela Park Public School’s council and has experience facilitating conflict resolution, emphasized the importance of open discussion and transparency. Karen, who has experience in member relations through her co-op work, expressed interest in supporting the role. The committee ultimately agreed that Tamanna Yasmin would serve as the primary Conflict Resolution Administrator, with Karen Grant, acting as a backup while learning the process.
Finally, members reviewed a proposal to adopt the RPSDP Network Email Use and Letters Violation Policy. The policy outlines expectations for respectful and professional communication among members. Adonis explained that the policy is not meant to prevent criticism of the SDP, but to ensure concerns are raised respectfully. Under the policy, inappropriate communications could lead to consequences through the conflict resolution process, including possible suspension from SDP meetings.
