On November 27th, 2024, the Regent Park Social Development Plan (SDP) Stakeholders Table held its quarterly hybrid meeting at the Urban Pavilion in Regent Park. Co-chaired by Michael Rosenberg and Adonis Huggins, the main focus was the presentation of the SDP’s new strategic plan by the Strategic Planning Committee.
Walied Khogali Ali outlined the SDP’s mission of fostering inclusion and social cohesion, providing an overview of its structure, which includes the Stakeholders Table, working groups, and several committees. Michael Rosenberg then introduced the new Strategic Directions aimed at strengthening community belonging, improving the social environment, and empowering residents. These directions were unanimously approved by the Stakeholders Table.
Walied proposed changes to the working groups, allowing any resident or organization aligned with SDP’s goals to form a group. This adjustment aims to increase the SDP’s relevance and better engage marginalized communities, youth, and seniors. The proposal was also unanimously passed.
Deany Peters discussed co-chair appointments, emphasizing transparency in the selection process for organizations like RPNA, TCHC, and the ED Network. The role of co-chairs is to support resident leadership.
The meeting concluded with the approval of all proposed changes, representing a significant step toward strengthening community engagement in Regent Park.
